Att klippa tyll / To cut tulle

Jag har bestämt mig för att sy några fina kjolar inspirerade av 50-talet, eller snarare av Diors "New Look", men för att sy sådana så behövs en underkjol!Köpte lite tyll och en bit tyg för att göra 45 meter snedremsa (det är alldeles för dyrt att köpa färdiga snedremsor, speciellt om de ska vara mönstrade!) till att göra en omarbetad version av Alice Lons underkjol . För att vara säker på att remsorna är en viss bredd så skar jag remsorna med hjälp av en kniv och en quilting-linjal, jag skulle ha föredragit min rullkniv men den verkar ha försvunnit. Tejpade fast lite silvertejp på linjalen för att undvika att den skjutsade runt så mycket (den gick inte att styra utan den!), drog först några remsor frystejp på linjalen först och sedan silvertejpen så att den inte skulle sitta fast för evigt.

I efterhand måste jag erkänna att det skulle ha varit mycket enklare om jag köpt färdigklippt tyll istället, hittade några fina rullar säljs för omkring 50kr . Tyll är hemskt att klippa i så aldrig att jag gör det igen, kanske om jag hittar min rullkniv men även då är det inte så troligt.

I have decided to make some nice skirts inspired by the 50s, or more exactly the New Look, but to get there I need a petticoat! Bought some tulle and a bit of fabric to make 45 metres of bias tape (it is way to expensive to buy the bias tape, especially if I want one with a nice pattern printed on it!) to make a revised version of the ones used by Alice Lon. To make sure that the strips are a certain width I decided to cut them using a knife, though I would have preferred my rotary cutter that seems to have vanished. As you can see my ruler has some tape on it, this to make sure that it does not slide around as much. Used some tape that is easy to peel off before taping the gaffa tape, this to make sure that it does not leave so much glue.

In retrospect I must admit that it would have been much easier if I had bought pre-cut tulle instead, found some nice rolls on e-bay for around 50 SEK, about 5 Euro. It was hell to cut it so no way that I will do it again, maybe with a rotary cutter but not if I can avoid it.

Stickevent i Borås / Knitting event in Borås

Gick på Stickeventet i Borås idag och hittade lite fint garn. De två översta är Svarta Fårets Funny Socks och det blå-lila är Zauberball Crazy. Skulle önska att jag kunde höja eventet till skyarna men med ett inträde på 50 kr och bara omkring 12 utställare så tar det emot. Går bara dit för att jag bor nära, hade jag varit tvungen att resa mer än 40 minuter så skulle jag nog struntat i det.

Went to the Knitting event in Borås today and found some nice yarn. The two skeins are Funny Sock from Svarta Fåret and the ball is Zauberball Crazy from Schoppel Wolle. I would like to say that the event was great but it was not, with only around 12 sellers and the entry costing 50 SEK, say about 5 Euro, it felt a bit expensive. I only went there (and have done so the last few years, because it is close to home, if I had to travel for 40 minutes to get there I would not even think about going there.

Krossad / Crushed

Besökte mina föräldrar under julhelgen och när jag gick ut för att ta några bilder av soluppgången, se inlägget från den 25 december, så halkade jag på isen och föll som en fura. Olyckligtvis verkar det som att kameran kom i vägen för fallet så när jag öppnade kameraväskan låg motljuskskyddet i bitar. Ja ja, tänkte jag och började planera för att köpa ett nytt men det visade sig att de är riktigt dyra. Det blev till att samla ihop bitarna, limma ihop allt med smyckeslim och dra en bit washi-tape runt alltihop. Färgen går väl an men nog ångrar jag att jag inte beställde svart tape när jag ändå köpte andra färger innan jul.

Visited my parents during the holidays and when I went out to take a photo of the sunrise, see the post from 25th of December, I slipped on the ice and fell down. Hit my elbow, back, and my head, and somehow landed on my camera and crush my lens hood. It turns out that these things are really expensive so I collected all of the parts, glued them together with jewellery glue and taped it with washi-tape. The colour is acceptable but I must admit that I regret not buying black tape when I ordered some other colours just before the holidays.
