Vad gör jag med mitt liv egentligen? / What am I doing with my life?

Det här projektet inleddes redan i våras men det är fortfarande på gång! För lite mindre än ett år sedan hittade jag mönstret Crochet Peacock Feather "Burma" Motif and BOOKMARK av Christa Veenstra och kände "En filt av påfågelfjädrar, det vore kul!". Sagt och gjort, virkade en prov-fjäder, beräknade antalet som skulle gå åt, 475 stycken, och beräknade sedan garnåtgång. Virkade först 475 stycken mörkblå cirklar, sedan den ljusblå randen, och sedan den bruna "äggformen", ett moment åt gången. Nog måste det erkännas att det är en aning trist men vem vill släpa runt på fem olika färger i väskan, eller snarare, vem har plats för fem garnnystan i väskan?

Garnet som används är Kampes 2-trådiga ullgarn, lite som fanns hemma och resten från Agnetas vävbod (ett företag som jag inte kan sluta gilla, ägaren är jättefin att ha att göra med!), och allt virkas med en 4mm virknål.

This project was started last spring but it is still being in the production-phase! A little bit less than one year ago I found the Crochet Peacock Feather "Burma" Motif and BOOKMARK pattern by Christa Veenstra and thought "A blanked out of peacock feathers, that would be nice!". So I crocheted a sample, calculated the number of feathers, 475 feathers, and calculated the amount of yarn it would need. Started off crocheting the dark blue middle, then the light blue border, and then the brown "egg-shape", one layer(?) at a time. I have to admit that it is a bit boring but who wants to keep 5 balls of yarn in their bag, or rather; who have space in their bag for five balls of yarn?

The yarn is Kampes two-ply wool yarn, some of it found at home and the rest bought from Agnetas Vävbod (who I cannot recommend enough, the owner is wonderful and really easy to deal with!),  and is crocheted using a 4mm crochet hook.

En Pläd / A blanket

Nu har Nellys Outlet öppnat för sommaren här i Borås och självklart kilade jag förbi på öppningsdagen, den dagen det är som mest folk... Målet med utflykten var att hitta en snygg herrskjorta i bra material billigt, det var kanske en aning optimistiskt, så självklart hittade jag inget av något större värde förutom min nya pläd.

Kön var cirka 40 minuter lång(!) och hade det inte varit för att jag smart nog utrustat mig med en vattenflaska och några podcasts så skulle jag nog inte klarat av det, jag såg flera som var nära att få nervösa sammanbrott. Där stod jag i kön och såg en dam framför mig lämna korgen i kön och kika runt under tiden kön ändå knappt rörde sig. Plötsligt hittar hon något svart inslaget i plast, fult inslaget, och det visade sig vara en ullpläd! När kön rörde sig förbi där hon hittat den så plockade jag upp en också, en svart pläd 140-150 gånger 165 för 100 kronor! Den är knappast i den dyraste kvalitén men helt klart värd sitt pris då den var i 100% ull.

Nu har den fått hänga till sig lite och vädras, den luktade ruskigt mycket malmedel (eller så är jag bara överkänslig), och det innebär att jag nu kan börja med mitt projekt (om jag vill). De senaste åren har jag drömt om att få brodera en pläd men att ge sig på mammas handvävda kändes inte riktigt rätt. Projektet kommer nog få ligga i dvala över sommaren då det kan bli trångt i resväskan när jag ska åka hem.


Nelly's outlet have finally opened here in the small town of Borås and of cause I went there the first day, the day with the most people... The goal was to find a good quality shirt, it was maybe a bit optimistic and therefore I did not find anything with greater value except my new blanket.

I had to stand in line for close to 40 minutes(!) and had it not been for the temperature that day I would not have taken my bottle of water and a few podcasts for the bicycle trip with me I would have been both thirsty and bored to death. I saw a lot of people close to getting a nervous breakdown. Well, after a while one woman in front of me left her cart for a small while, no big deal since the line was barely moving, and looked at the goods around the line. As I was just standing there I kept an eye on what she was doing, it was far more interesting than just standing there in the line and looking at peoples carts, and suddenly she found something interesting. She picked up a big package badly wrapped in plastic which turned out to be a blanket. As the line passed where she had looked I took a peak at the blankets and found out that they were made of 100% wool and only costed 100 SEK ( around 10 EURO / 15 USD). I think that it is about 140-150 times 165 centimetres and that is not a bad price for a 100% wool blanket. I doubt that it is the best quality but it is still a good price.

Now I have let it hang outside for a few days, the smell of moth deterrent was awful, but now can I finally start with my project (if I want to). The last few years I have wanted to embroider a blanket but to kidnap one of my mothers handwoven ones have always seemed to be a bit disrespectful. This project might hibernate during summer as I doubt that I have the room fore it in my suitcase.
